Investing in Our Customers & Communities

Fuel Service App

Filling up the car is one of the biggest challenges for disabled drivers. That is why Applegreen are delighted to partner with FuelService

Through FuelService, drivers can now contact Applegreen stations ahead of their arrival and see if they are able to assist them at the pump. Once they have arrived, it lets them inform the station and tells the staff member which fuel pump they are parked at.

FuelService is a fully managed cloud based solution that works with the existing telephone in the station for communication. When a driver makes a request, the phone rings and the station staff press 1 if they can help, or 2 if they can’t. Quickly and easily letting drivers know if they can help.

FuelService helps overcome some of these challenges for disabled drivers and allows us to provide a seamless experience for all of our customers.

Forestry

As an Irish company, Applegreen is an active supporter of Irish biodiversity and climate targets. We are now one of the largest contributors to the Irish Government’s Woodland Environmental Fund (WEF) and are committed to planting 300,000 native Irish trees by the end of 2023.

We have overseen the planting of our first 100,000 native Irish trees at sites in Leitrim, Clare and Westmeath in 2021, and are proud to contribute to Ireland’s forestry goals.

Applegreen Charitable Fund

The Applegreen Charitable Fund was set up in December 2009 with the aim to give back to the communities in which we operate throughout Ireland. The Fund has supported a number of charity partners, many with children at the core, and with the aim of delivering tangible and visible benefits to the communities that both Applegreen and our charity partners are serving every day.

Throughout the year employees from head office and stores across Ireland arrange events to raise awareness and drive fund raising for our charity partners.

The You Buy, We Give initiative continues to grow each year. Every time a customer makes a shop and fuel, or a shop only purchase in an Applegreen store in Ireland, the company donates 1c/1p to the Applegreen Charitable Fund at no additional cost to the customer. Funds are also donated through coin collection boxes placed in all Applegreen Service Stations, and Barcode Campaigns whereby the customer is given the option to donate €1/£1 in store once every quarter.

Applegreen announces partnership with Barretstown

Barretstown offers free therapeutic programmes at our unique specially designed campus in Co. Kildare and through outreach programmes in hospitals and schools throughout Ireland, for children and their families living with a serious illness.

When a child is seriously ill, their life becomes about everything they can’t do anymore, and they can stop feeling like a regular child. Even when they physically start to get better, the psychological scars of their illness, or that of their siblings, can remain, eroding confidence, diminishing self-esteem and coping skills.

Barretstown empowers and encourages each child to step out of their comfort zone and re-build their confidence through our medically endorsed therapeutic programmes. They start to discover the magic of being a child again.

Hospitals treat the illness but Barretstown treats the child. Since opening the gates of Barretstown in 1994, Barretstown has served over 85,000 children and family members living with serious illness.

Childhood stops for seriously ill children.
At Barretstown we Press Play.
